Is counseling for me?

You are wondering if talking to someone is the right thing to do. You are maybe even doubtful that someone who is trained in mental health issues can really understand what it is like for you to struggle day to day. Struggling with the feelings of anxiousness, inadequacy, loneliness, and isolation. I get that. I know what it’s like to have to deal with something in life that you didn’t ask for, and makes life seem harder than it has to be. I was diagnosed with significant vision loss at a young age, and have lived with and overcome the challenges of having a disability for over 25 years.

I know what it is like for life to feel hard. I also know how to help others overcome and live life to the fullest, despite whatever challenges they have been given. I specialize in helping clients learn how to succeed in life in spite of their anxiety, depression, trauma history, chronic illness, disability, or relationship struggles.

I work with couples, individuals, and families who are motivated to overcome and succeed despite difficult circumstances. Whether you are dealing with personal problems or relationship issues, I can help you to develop and foster resilience in the face of adversity.

Am I the Best Fit for you?

Clients can struggle with a variety of mental health related issues and it is extremely important that you find a psychologist who understands you, what you are experiencing, and is trained in the best treatment options to help you find relief and success in therapy. I have found that clients with the following experiences tend to excel in working with me.

1. People who are adjusting to living life with a disability or parents of children who have been diagnosed with a disability.

2. People who feel overwhelmed by worry and stress in life and want to get back to feeling in control of their lives.

3. People who find it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep at night because of racing minds or nightmares.

4. People who have survived traumatic events such as child physical/sexual abuse, sexual assault, Military Sexual Trauma, or combat-related trauma.

6. Individuals or couples who feel their relationships are struggling and would like to improve their communication or conflict resolution skills.

7. Couples or individuals who are preparing for marriage or otherwise want to build a solid foundation for their long-term commitment to another person.
